Childhood Life In Malaysia | Past & Present

Hi all readers,

Anyone in the world have certainly been through the childhood days. But now, there are many different in the past compared than the present. We are 20th Century kids are more enjoyable than 21st Century kids. There are a lot of reason to explain why we are so lucky.

Firstly, we can see the world of the child in the past and now is full of differences. Why do I say so? This is because , if we see, the behaviour of of the child in the past is more robust when compared with the children in the world nowadays. Do you know what robust I mean? I means the child in the past will do anything eventhough they know those activities will make them tired. However, I do not say that current children do not have direct activity intended to do. I take one example, the child in past will find any vigorous activities that will make them feel satisfied when doing it. For example, they will play games like chasing each other. Why they play that game even they know that games will them feel tired? The answer is that they do not even care if they are tired to play the game. What is important to them that they will be happy with what they do even during the fasting month. And most importantly, the chase games just now will be able to nourish their own bodiesand they will be more active.

In addition, There is also special that is categorised based on gender. What is meant by that? I mean if the game is played far more to the masculine, then it is more appropriate played by boys. Nevertheless, it could not be a problem if there were girls, who want to own  rather play a game dominated by boys and vice versa. I give an example, if that is war game played by a group of boys because mostly boys like the robustness. Suddenly, a group of girls come to play who want to participate in the game. Would it be a problem? Absolutely no, as they can join to play the game because they are still recognised as child and not yet recognised as a person of full age (puberty) .

Kids today are no longer the same as kids in the past whereas male or female. I say that because in the past, technology was not as advanced like now. What is related by that? It is related if child in the past want to play something that will make them feel tired, they still remain play it ( as i wrote above). Due to lack of technological sophistication in the old days, the kids in the past prefer to make a game that sometimes for the adult is absurd to play it. But in their eyes , it is playable.

Nowadays, the time has advanced technology, therefore many of the children at this present time rather use the available technology to entertain themselves. Why should they bother to make fun to their hearts when they are forced to do tired activities? Therefore, they prefer to use of technology to make them feel good. One of the technological facilities we have is a computer. So, the use it for surfing Internet and play games to get fun without tiring themselves.

For instance, present children prefer to spend their time with computer, notebooks, tablets, and smartphone those are increasingly sophisticated every day. With the advent of those things, they may be able to play through online without having to think of another game that they have to invent what to play to make sure they feel fun. Now, with just a few clicks, they will continue to play the game what they want to play ( online ) without having to find friends of the same age to play. The can play itself without the need for other people to play with.

So, no wonder if the former, the habitations atmosphere was noisy with the voices of children, their cries, their fun, now fun screams we can no longer listen to as many children but not all would rather be in home and just playing in the house without having to go out looking for other partners. They just need to play with themselves and their significant still feels fun with what they do. That's all. Thank you.

Cultural Taboos In Malaysia

Malaysia : Celebrating Unity in Diversity
Malaysia is a very diverse in culture. There are the Malay's, Chinese, Indians , Bidayuh, Iban, and many more. Eventhough there are many different culture here in Malaysia but we manage to live harmoniously and peacefully. We, Malaysian can live harmoniously because we understand and respect other cultures. That is why I am here to explain more on the cultural taboo between the three main races in Malaysia that is the Chinese, Malays and Indians.

Let’s begin with the Malaysian Chinese culture. The Chinese can be considered to many as the very hard working group and very perseverance in what they do. There are many taboos in the Malaysian Chinese community here are some of the taboos, the Chinese would a void the number four, for example if they may they would change the licensed plate of they car if it has the number four in it, or they would not keep anything that have the number four in there house. This is because the number brings bad luck and in the Mandarin language it has the same pronunciation as death. However, this could be said differently for the number eight, the Chinese favoured this number because it bring good fortune or luck. Another example of cultural taboos is that you must not whistle at night, according to old folks this could bring bad spirits. In addition, the Chinese also believe that you must not hang your laundry at night because this will attached them self to wandering spirits.

No whistling, please !

The Malay is the majority of race in Malaysia consisting of 60% . There are also many taboos in the Malay community for example, when entering anyone's house you must take off your shoes, if not it may seem  rude and disrespectfully. Furthermore, in it also consider rude to point with your fore finger instead you must point with your thumb. Another taboo in the Malay culture is that you always eat with your right hand because the left hand is considered dirty when eating.

Take off your shoes, please!

The Malaysian Indian can be considered the most festive out of the many race in Malaysia. With the many Indian festivals there are bound to be many rules that needs to follow and taboos that is need to be avoided. Winking is considered a taboo in the Indian culture this is because they believe winking can bring many unhealthy problems. Moreover, you cannot cut your nails in the evening this will attract unwanted spirits. When a boiling milk or hot milk is spilt, this can be a sign of a bad omen.

Spilt Milk

In conclusion, there are many taboos or does and don't in every culture, we should respect these cultural taboos in order to live harmoniously with one another.

Baby Dumping Issues In Malaysia

Nowadays, baby dumping issues become more common in the world because it increases from days to days. In Malaysia itself, there are too many cases those related to baby dumping. Do you really know what is mean by baby dumping? Baby dumping means the acts of throw away the babies at any places without take care of the babies.
Picture Of Baby Dumping

In Star Online , there is a news about The Act Of Throwing Away Babies. It is said that Cabinet has decided that anyone who dumps a baby causing the child to die can be tried for murder and sentenced to death. Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said It is also has been agreed to the proposal by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry over the issue because of baby dumping were still rampant in the country.
Statistics Of Baby Dumping issues rise form years to years

There are many factors those can cause baby bumping such as abandoning responsibilities by parents through religious views which can make their son’s cannot differentiate between good or bad actions. The second factor is from individual itself which easily influenced by other people. For example, some people especially women easily surrendered to men just to get money. Besides, choosing the wrong friend also affect to the action that they do.

In era multimedia and internet is free to anyone, pornography and sexy video can be access with ease through the search engines. Some of advertisement are just too sexy in the website also can get them into clicking the porn websites. Last but not least, these baby dumping issue can caused by unwanted pregnancy, when the girls do not want anyone know about pregnant and afraid to tell their parents about unwanted pregnant, so they taught the best ways to do is by throwing out their babies without feel guilty.
Statistics Of Baby Dumping drom 2005 until 2010

The best suggestion to curb this issue by build places for pregnant and rape victim teens. It is the best place to educate them not to throw the babies , handle various situations and how to take care of baby. The places that is existed in Malaysia is Sekolah Harapan, Baitul Ehsan and Baitul Islah. In addition, the government should introduce true Islam to the people especially Muslim youth about legal and forbidden, paradise and hell and sin and reward.

Lastly, I can conclude that baby dumping issue in Malaysia becoming common problem and this problem never end. We do not want more babies dying. So, individual ( main role), society and government must stand together to prevent this problem

Please Do Not Dump Your Baby

World Poverty

World Poverty

World poverty is one of the problems faced globally. It is not only happening in third world countries but also in developed countries such as the United States and United Kingdom. With current economic instability it is expected more people will be affected with hardship as less jobs are available and more competition for employment. There are many causes that lead to poverty such as wars, famine, natural disaster, corruption, education.

The rise of food prices which made global headline in 2008 have affected the poor the most.it has resulted riots, protest, overthrow of leaders and many death around the world. Poor countries in Africa with shortage of food also experience scarce of clean water supply. Without these, basic sanitation could not be maintained which in turn lead to disease. Water is also essential agriculturally, it is needed to grow crops and to raise livestock which in turn provide food for the people as well as income for farmers. With drought comes famine and affect crop yield. Soil becomes barren and farming would not happen. So no water means no food.

The effects of poverty are serious. Children who grow up in poverty suffer more persistent, frequent, and severe health problems. Infants would have low life expectancy as they are underweight due lack of nutrition in the body along with unbalance diet. This would allow physical and mental disabilities in them. Common disease and disorder associated with poverty are impaired vision and hearing, iron deficiency anaemia, and higher than normal levels of lead in the blood, which can impair brain function.

Poor families’ experience much more stress and studies show that this would lead to domestic violence including children and elders abuse. Furthermore, this also lead to an increase of crime rate as people are becoming desperate. Crime organisation in turn would use this opportunity to recruit more members into their ranks for jobs with good pay as clearly seen in southern Americas. Apart from this, it would as well lead to people being exploited. Human trafficking is one of a major problems in Malaysia due to excessive entry of illegal immigrant into the country. Many comes by boats or smuggled in through our border with hopes for work or simply a better life. This would in turn cause social issues between locals and them.

To reduce poverty it is important that education are taken seriously. As more people are educated more will become aware of the issues that cause poverty. Awareness programs taught in school helps making sure that students appreciate with what is given to them and not taken for granted.

Humanitarian aid such as medical aid would help to ensure that people health are being check along with Charity and donation which allow the money collected be used for building houses for the homeless, buying food supplies and ration as well as clothing and other essentials.

Facts:
1) Almost half the world — over 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.
2) The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the 41 Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (567 million people) is less than the wealth of the world’s 7 richest people combined.
3) Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
4)Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
5)1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, and 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).

Impoliteness Among Youth in Malaysia

IMPOLITENESS AMONG YOUTH

A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community view as being undesirable. Everyone would agree about some social problems, such as murders and theft. Other social problems may be viewed as such by certain groups of people. Teenagers who play loud music in a public park obviously do not view it as a problem, but some other people may consider it as an undesirable condition. Some nonsmokers view smoking as an undesirable social condition that should be banned or restricted in public buildings. We can say that social problems actually give bad effects not only to individual, but a large number of peoples.

Besides that, the act of social problems can give threaten and need to do something to make a recovery or to make it better. Various cases of crime also include Juvenile cases. This are a few statistics about social problems in Malaysia.

Crime Index

Drinking Index

Drugs Index

Major problems among teenagers are smoking, alcohol and drug use. When teenagers start smokIng, a few of them might not end with smoking only. They are using and abusing drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy, heroin and morphine. Adolescent involved with alcohol and drugs in many ways. Unfortunately, they do not see the link between their action today and the consequences in the future. Using alcohol and tobacco at a young age increase the risk of using other drugs later. Some teens will try and stop, some will continue to use drugs seldom without serious problems but others will become addicted to it and will use more dangerous drugs which can harm themselves. There are few reasons why teenagers involved in drugs, smoking and alcohol. Some of them will say that they took alcohol, drugs and tobacco because they want to feel grown up which they will make their own decisions and also be able to do what they want to. The most important and natural part of growing up is to fit in and belong to a group. It is natural that teenagers want others to accept and like them. Sometimes the group they want to join is using the illegal stuffs and they may be attracting to use it too just to fit in the group.

Illegal racing is also a serious problem which occurs among teenagers. Illegal racing means riding on a motorcycle or driving by doing dangerous style and action with over speed limit and racing with each other in a group without a permit from the government. This activity will cause a very serious danger to themselves and other road users. They are riding and driving a modified motorcycle or car with over speed limit and doing many dangerous actions like superman’s style, stand on the motorcycle’s seat while riding and drive carelessly. They race with each other just to get the prize which usually some amount of money, girls, to show off and also to get praises from their friends on their victory and bravery. Their behavior can cause a serious accident and also death. But most of them did not aware of all these consequences. They are only looking for excitement and self-satisfaction.

OPS Sikap 2013

There are more other social problems which involved teenagers. There are few questions we can ask ourselves. What are the causes? Why teenagers get involved in such unhealthy activities? Who should be blamed on the problems? How to prevent the problems from ruining the teenagers?

In the young age, the level of curiosity in a teenager’s life is very high. Whatever they hear, see, read and learn about, they will always ask what, why and how. This feeling will encourage them to try a new thing without bothering the effect in their lives. When they see an adult smoking, taking alcohol and drugs, they wonder the taste and the feeling. At this stage, adult especially parents should guide their children and tell them about do and don’t, right and wrong. Teenagers need a clear and transparent explanation why they have to and do not have to do something. Give them the right information without hiding any fact, so that they will understand well the reasons. Never lie to them in order to stop them from doing the wrong things. This action will leave a bad perspective to the teenagers that adults like to lie and make them find the answer through other uncontrolled sources.
children are eager to learn something new

Besides curiosity, a teenager love to take risk. In early adolescent years, youth are courageous and may have high risk behaviors. For them, the more challenging and risky the activities, the more excitement and satisfaction they get. This will be a good thing and also bad, depends on how they manage the challenge and what are the activities. As parents, usually they will not allow their children to involve in a risky situation. So, we can assume that the teenagers who love to take risk are always influence by their friends. In this situation, the role of parents is important to know all their children’s friends and their activities. The examples of good challenging and risky activities are hiking, rock climbing, water rafting, diving and jungle tracking. But on the other hand, the bad activities are like illegal racing, vandalism and gangsterism.

Support your children

Family especially parents play an important role to make sure that their children did not involved in unhealthy activities. There are many teenagers who involved in serious problems lack of love and attention from their parents. Nowadays, the parents are going out early in the morning to go to work and reach home at midnight. They do not have sufficient time with the children. So, who will teach them to be good girls and boys? Who will tell them what are good and bad actions and also what the effects if they are doing the bad things? Having a working parents will be either good or bad thing. When both of them are working, the conflict in the family can be avoided due to double income but for the children, they may be do not have a person to share their feelings, problems, happiness and sadness rather than their friends or outsider.

Parents guidance

From the factors we have discussed, we can conclude that education is the most important agenda to prevent our young generations from being manipulated by the tough situation. Parents should enlarge their knowledge and skills on how to teach their children. They should monitor their children from useless or harmful activities. Love your children and develop them to be humble young generation. Therefore, education comes in two forms, informal education from parents and friends, and formal education from school, where knowledge is gained especially in academic fields.
Love your children

The government also done a lot to be together to control and prevent social problems among teenagers. Many events exhibitions were held to attract youngsters to have healthy lifestyles. For examples, last year there was an event held at Putrajaya known as Million Youth Assembly in conjunction with the National Youth Day 2012 and have many interesting activities. Rather than that, there are many youth club which can be joining by the teenagers according to their interest. So, all teenagers should not waste this opportunity to involved in such healthy activities and enjoy their young age.

THE BOSS

NAME: MUHAMMAD AFNAN SHAHMI BIN ABDUL RAUF

Assalamualaikum, my name is Muhammad Afnan Shahmi bin Abdul Rauf. People call me Nan. I am 19 years old from Kajang, Selangor and the eldest of the three sibling. I started my secondary education at SMK Saujana Impian until form 2, then moved to London due to my dad’s work. I spend most of my teenage years there and Alhamdulillah managed to complete my A level there as well. Reflecting on my experience living in the U.K for the first time was a culture shock as I was not yet able to adapt to the surrounding but thankfully I managed to cope. Being the only Malaysian at my school had made me more independent as I am able to make friends with people of different ethnic backgrounds and met a lot of interesting people. So now after 5 years here I am back in my beloved Malaysia and studying at Unikl Micet. Hopefully, my future here will be bright and would look forward on experiencing a new life.

NAME : MUHAMMAD AFIF BIN ABDULLAH

Assalamualaikum and first of all, my name is Muhammad Afif bin Abdullah. I was born on 24th April 1992 at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. Basically I have five siblings and I am the oldest one. I have two sisters and a two brothers. My father,Abdullah bin Ahmad is a teacher as well as my mother, Zabariah binti Ramli. Eventhough, my parents do not earn such a high income, but it can be said that all their kids grew up well and got such a good education either from local institution nor abroad. My eldest sister is now studying at Penang Matriculation College while my other siblings still study in school.

It took 18 years to create who I am today. I grew up in such a happy and healthy family. Within these years, I have been given the freedom to explore the world in order to satisfy my curiosity towards this wonderful world.I started my primary school in Sekolah Rendah Islam Abim Sungai Petani.

My parents believe that knowledge can change someone’s life, so do I. They will make sure I gain much education as I can. As the result, I left my primary school with flying colors when I managed to get 5A’s in UPSR examination, which was my best achievement at that time. I started my secondary school at Maktab Mahmud Alor Setar, Kedah as I did not get any place in boarding school. After my parents had spent much on me,I know that I should make them proud of me. But I only get to score 8A and 1B in my PMR examination. With the result, I managed to stay at my old school.

When I was in Form 5, my mother forbade me from involved in any competition because I have to sit for my SPM that year. So, I only focus on my study and try to improve my weaknesses in every subject. I am happy with my trial result because I got 2A only but I knew that I could do better for my SPM. I struggled to achieve my goals. Eventhough I was in the last class, but I could prove to my teachers that I also can achieve 11A in my SPM. Praise to God because gave me the brilliant and happiness result to me. Once again I made my parents proud of me when I got 3A 5B 2C 1D in my SPM.

Then, after SPM, because of my not powerful result in SPM, I decide to continue my study in Diploma in Science at Kolej Poly Tech Mara Kota Bharu with full loan from MARA. I graduated from there with flying colours with CGPA 3.01. I feel so great as I myself don’t trust enough for me to get such amazing results. From there, I plan to continue my study to UniKL for Chemical Engineering Technology (Hons.) in Process.
